Martine: Unblemished Hues of Vedanta!

R.Ramachandran

Martine's art... her self-acquired accesses with the nameless art form she practices, promise an entirely new dimension for Vedanta. Every masterpiece is apparently armed with powerful messages couched in a tamed language. The fragile sentiments, the unbearable pains of violence, the melancholy of the disturbed souls, never ending pursuit for the Infinite and more will be sprouting from the fertile mind.
Madame Martine Quentric Seguy ... has had ties with Indian arts in general, Tibe
tan Frescoes & Warii tribal arts in particular.
Her father Jean Quentric was a veteran in contemporary paintings...
Martine published on the tribes of Northern Frontier of Pakistan and well written stories. Her passion for Indian philosophy and understanding the agony of her fellow beings has had no known limits. Though in the later days she worked as a psychotherapist, she resorted to painting as her ultimate medium to portray human moods in all perspectives, leaving behind indelible impressions on the minds of audience. Her sketches are powerful and penetrating: penetrating the void of souls, replacing void with splashes of compassion.
She gained experience by visiting museums, galleries and expositions of well-known artists. She runs a neatly stocked studio at home... Her innovative floral designs and leafy impressions show how she differs from others.
Martine came to India in 1973 and her bond with India become inseparable part of her life. Apart from contemporary painting she has translated the teachings of Adhi Sankara...
She use various techniques hitherto never put in to use by others, to infuse compassion into the deserted souls. Mother and child, narrow escape (Buddha), mirrored messages, her creations remain endless. She select the frames for her paintings herself and with a strong sense of humour she claims that the painting and the frame need to be a perfect match as amicable husband and wife, and not the warring couple for whom ceasefire is yet to dawn.
Her prowess on Vedanta and the uncanny skill of story telling would be pleasant surprise for people from all walks. Her fascinating handwriting come in handy in her paintings inbuilt with contours of text loaded with the mail of universal love. She is of the opinion that apart from the offer of aesthetic treat, painting can be construed as an instrument of change for the better.
Her solo exposition "Aum & Prem" was inaugurated by Lt Governor K.R.Malkarni on 8th April at Aurodhan Art Gallery. The exposition lasts till 7th May. On the day of inauguration despite power failure she illuminated the select audience invoking a Sanskrit Sloka. The candle lit gallery narrowed down the focus with no distraction either on the multifaceted talents, the Armour of Madame Seguy. The event laced with serenity, was also marked by the skilled narration of "The voice in the desert".
The artist's few neatly arranged collage works made with multilingual news clippings throw light on the ghastly side violence. But the choice of clippings show that the artist took enormous care... not to turn controversial...
